A stitch marker is a removable ring or clip placed on a knitting needle to mark a meaningful position in your work. Use one to mark the start of a round, the centre of a sleeve, a shaping point, or the beginning of a repeat.
Choose a smooth marker that slides easily over the needle and is large enough to notice before it disappears into the fabric. When you meet it on the next row or round, slip it from the left needle to the right needle unless the pattern tells you otherwise.
